Truck Accidents in Oklahoma

Arcadia, OK – One Hurt in Dump Truck Wreck on Route 66 near N Hiwassee RdTruck accidents are a common occurrence in the United States. The unfortunate truth is that many of these accidents are completely preventable. We see countless people left with serious injuries as a result of accidents involving negligence. Common factors in these accidents include:

  • Inadequate training of truck drivers: Insufficient training can result in drivers lacking the necessary skills to handle the unique challenges posed by operating large commercial vehicles. Inadequate training may include insufficient knowledge of safety regulations, proper handling of cargo, defensive driving techniques, or understanding of truck maintenance procedures.
  • Unrealistic deadlines: Pressure to meet tight delivery schedules or unrealistic deadlines can push truck drivers to engage in risky behaviors. They may be tempted to speed, drive for longer hours without breaks, or disregard traffic laws in order to reach their destinations on time. These pressures can compromise driver safety and increase the likelihood of accidents.
  • Sleep deprivation: Long hours on the road and irregular schedules can lead to sleep deprivation among truck drivers. Fatigue significantly impairs driver alertness, reaction time, and decision-making ability, making it a major contributing factor in truck accidents. Lack of quality rest can result in drowsy driving, falling asleep at the wheel, or reduced concentration.
  • Cell phone use: Distracted driving, including cell phone use, is a dangerous behavior that diverts a driver's attention from the road. Truck drivers who engage in texting, talking, or browsing their phones while driving increase the risk of accidents. Even a momentary distraction can have severe consequences due to the size and weight of commercial trucks.
