Charlton, MA – Box Truck Crash on Massachusetts Turnpike Ends in Injuries

Charlton, MA (September 20, 2023) – A truck accident reported in the Charlton area on Tuesday morning left one person injured while leading to the arrest of a second person.

The accident occurred at around 9:15 a.m. on September 19.

According to reports provided by the Massachusetts State Police, a pickup truck was traveling on the Massachusetts Turnpike during the morning hours. As the vehicle headed westbound, it collided with a box truck near mile marker 82. The 2016 M2106 box truck rolled over and landed on its side near the guard rail.

The pickup truck, a white Dodge Ram 1500, sustained significant front-end damage. The vehicle had to be towed from the scene.

The driver of the box truck, identified as a 34-year-old man from Everett, Massachusetts, was trapped inside the vehicle and had to be extricated. The victim was severely harmed and was flown to an area hospital for emergency care.

The driver of the Dodge was taken into police custody. They currently face charges for possession of a Class B narcotic, OUI-drugs causing serious injury, and OUI-drugs.

The crash is being investigated.
