Chicago, IL (November 22, 2023) – One person has lost their life as a result of a crash that occurred in the Fuller Park neighborhood on Monday, November 20. Calls for help were received by the Chicago Police Department and Chicago Fire Department during the morning hours.
According to reports, a FedEx semi-truck was traveling near the Northern and Southern rail yard at 350 West Garfield Boulevard when it was struck by a freight train. The force of the collision pushed the truck into a second train, which was traveling in the opposite direction. Both trains derailed due to the crash.
The truck’s driver became pinned inside the cab of the vehicle and had to be extricated. One person sustained fatal injuries due to the crash. The victim was pronounced deceased. At this time, the incident is under investigation.
