Chicago, IL – Five Hurt in Truck Wreck on E 71st St near S Wentworth Ave

Chicago, IL (November 27, 2023) – Several people were injured as a result of a truck accident that occurred on the South Side of Chicago early Sunday morning. Calls for help came in just after midnight on November 26.

According to local law enforcement, an SUV was struck by a U-Haul truck near East 71st Street and South Wentworth Avenue during the morning hours. The incident caused severe damage to the SUV.

Five people in the SUV, including a 15-year-old male, were injured. All of the victims were transported to area hospitals for emergency medical care. Authorities confirmed that one of the victims was in critical condition. The driver of the U-Haul truck was arrested by the Illinois State Police. At this time, investigations are underway.
