Chicago, IL – More Than a Dozen Victims Hurt in Fatal Bus Crash on S DuSable Lake Shore Dr

Chicago, IL (July 11, 2023) – A major bus accident took place on Sunday morning in Chicago that claimed one person’s life while leaving more than a dozen people injured.

The Chicago Police Department was notified of the crash at approximately 6:00 a.m. on July 9.

According to police reports, a CTA bus was traveling on South DuSable Lake Shore Drive. As the vehicle attempted to merge lanes and the 4500 block of the roadway, it collided with a Dodge Journey, which was traveling north on the roadway.

A 37-year-old female was ejected from the SUV. She suffered fatal injuries and was pronounced deceased at the scene.

Two other people inside the SUV, identified as an adult male and a 32-year-old woman, both suffered critical injuries and were rushed to area hospitals for emergency treatment.

The bus driver and 12 passengers on board were all transported to area hospitals for the treatment of injuries that they suffered in the crash.

At this time, the Chicago Police Department is investigating.
