Truck Accidents in Illinois

Chicago, IL – Six Injured in Two-Vehicle Firetruck Wreck on E 79th StTruck accidents in the United States result in tens of thousands of injuries each year. These accidents are primarily caused by reckless or negligent drivers.  Leading factors in truck accidents include distracted driving, fatigue, speeding, intoxication (drunk driving or drug use), aggressive driving/road rage, poor weather conditions, mechanical failures, improper maintenance, unsafe lane changes, and tailgating.

The unfortunate reality is that the majority of truck accidents are entirely preventable. When people are negligent while operating their vehicles, they can cause serious accidents that leave people with devastating injuries. After being hurt in a truck accident, you have the ability to file a claim for compensation against the responsible party.

Determining liability in a truck accident involves considering several factors. The cause of the accident must be identified, followed by determining responsibility. Truck accidents are more complex than other types of accidents because multiple parties can be held liable simultaneously. Working with a commercial vehicle accident lawyer can help identify the factors contributing to the accident and establish liability.

Your attorney will be able to investigate to determine if it was the negligence of the driver that caused the accident. They will also work to determine if the negligent hiring or training of truck companies contributed to the accident in any way. They will work to determine if a cargo shift or a spill was the cause of the accident to determine if the cargo company is also liable for the damages. Hiring an attorney to take charge of the investigation is critically important as they will perform the most comprehensive investigation possible to determine who is at fault for the damages you suffered.
