Chicago, IL – Six Injured in Two-Vehicle Firetruck Wreck on E 79th St

Chicago, IL (July 13, 2023) – On Tuesday evening, police and firefighters in the city of Chicago responded to the scene of a major truck accident that took place on the south side of the city.

At around 11:25 p.m. on July 11, a vehicle ran a red light while traveling in the 300 block of East 79^th Street. As a result, it crashed into a firetruck, causing the firetruck to overturn.

Five firefighters in the vehicle were injured. The victims were treated at the scene and transported to an area hospital. The driver of the car was also injured in the accident and transported to a local hospital.

At this time, the incident is being investigated.
