Cincinnati, OH (May 17, 2023) – A fatal truck accident took place in the Cincinnati area early Wednesday morning involving a pedestrian.
The Ohio State Highway Patrol troopers were called to the scene of the accident at approximately 6:00 a.m. on May 17.
Reports provided by OS HP indicate that a semi-truck tractor-trailer crashed into a pedestrian on Interstate 75. The crash prompted the officials to shut down the southbound side of the roadway near Freeman Avenue just south of Ezzard Charles Drive.
Emergency medical services responded to the scene to care for the pedestrian. However, the pedestrian ended up passing away from their injuries.
Investigations into the crash are currently underway.
We offer our condolences to the family of the pedestrian who lost their life in this accident.
Fatal truck accidents take the lives of hundreds of people every single month in the United States. The unfortunate truth is that many of these accidents are preventable. When innocent victims lose their lives as a result of accidents, their families often have legal options available.
One of the most common routes used by families who lose loved ones is to file a wrongful death claim against the responsible party. In Ohio, there are several parties who can be held liable for fatal truck accidents.
In most cases, families file wrongful death claims against the driver of the vehicle. When drivers are speeding, drowsy, or fail to yield to others and cause accidents that ultimately take the lives of innocent people, they can be held liable for their actions. In other cases, legal action is filed against the trucking company. These generally involve cases where truck drivers are unqualified to operate the vehicles but are still hired anyway. Trucking companies can also be held liable for truck accidents if they fail to maintain vehicles properly.
Other parties who are commonly identified in fatal truck accidents include maintenance companies, truck part manufacturers, truck retailers, and even cargo loading companies. To determine who you should file a legal claim against, it is crucial that you reach out to a national truck accident lawyer as soon as possible. Your lawyer will be able to help you identify the responsible party and file a claim for compensation against them.
