Colonial Heights, VA (September 11, 2023) – On Saturday evening, emergency crews were sent to the scene of a truck accident that took place in the Colonial Heights area.
At around 11:24 p.m. on September 9, troopers with the Virginia State Police were notified that a tractor-trailer and a second vehicle collided on Interstate 95. Preliminary investigations determined that a tractor-trailer was traveling north on the interstate when it went off the left side of the roadway. The impact of the collision with the median jersey wall sent the semi-truck into the southbound lane, where it collided with a 2020 BMW M8 motorcycle near mile marker 55.
Authorities responded to the scene and shut down the roadway near Temple Avenue. Emergency crews located the motorcyclist and their vehicles stuck underneath the tractor-trailer.
Firefighters extricated the rider, who was identified as a 21-year-old male from New York. The victim was transported to an area hospital for emergency medical care.
Authorities also determined that the concrete debris from the jersey wall landed on the roadway, causing damage to at least three additional vehicles. One of the drivers of the vehicles was injured in the crash.
At this time, the incident is being investigated.
