Truck accidents are one of the leading causes of accidental injuries in the United States. Each year, more than 100,000 people are left injured as a result of these accidents. The size and weight of these vehicles mean that they are more likely to cause severe damage to anything they come in contact with during an accident.
Regrettably, there are many accidents that are completely preventable. When it comes to truck accidents, holding the responsible parties accountable for your damages is crucial. In many cases, the truck driver may be held liable for your injuries and losses.
It's important to establish that the actions or negligence of the truck driver contributed to the accident. This could include reckless driving, traveling at too high a speed, operating their vehicle while distracted, or even driving under the influence of drugs or alcohol.
To prove liability, you will need to gather evidence such as witness statements, photographs from the scene of the accident, police reports, and any available video footage. These pieces of evidence will help demonstrate that the truck driver's actions directly caused your injuries.
In addition to proving fault on behalf of the truck driver, you will also need to demonstrate that their actions resulted in measurable damages. This includes medical bills related to your injuries, lost wages due to time off work for recovery or treatment, and pain and suffering experienced as a result of the accident.
