Darlington County, SC – One Killed in Dump Truck Crash on Mineral Springs Rd

Darlington County, SC (May 15, 2023) – On May 12, the South Carolina Highway Patrol responded to the scene of a major truck crash that took place in Darlington County.

The accident was reported just before 6:45 a.m.

Reports from SCHP indicate that a collision involving a 2023 Peterbilt dump truck and a 2017 Mazda 3 occurred on the southbound side of Mineral Springs Road. Officials were forced to close down a significant section of the road while they cleared the scene.

The driver and one passenger in the Mazda were both injured. The two victims were transported to area hospitals for emergency care.

The driver of the Mazda, identified as a teenager from the Florence area, was fatally injured. The victim was pronounced dead at the scene.

The South Carolina Highway Patrol has initiated a crash investigation.
