Flagstaff, AZ (August 22, 2023) – A truck accident reported in the Flagstaff area on Monday morning claimed one person’s life.
The Arizona Department of Transportation notified officials at approximately 9:10 a.m. on August 21 that they were needed at the scene of a major crash.
Investigations show that a semi-truck and a passenger vehicle collided on the eastbound side of Interstate 40 in the vicinity of the 4th Street overpass. The semi-truck overturned and came to rest on its side while blocking both of the eastbound lanes of the road. The incident caused severe delays in the area.
Authorities arrived at the scene and closed off the roadway near mile marker 200.
One person was fatally injured in the crash and pronounced dead at the scene.
The Arizona Department of Public Safety is currently investigating.
