Fatal Truck Accidents in Wisconsin

Green Bay, WI – Minivan Crash with Truck Reported on S Broadway, Man Fatally InjuredEach year, tens of thousands of people are hospitalized with significant and life-changing injuries due to truck accidents. There are many instances where people suffer spinal cord injuries, severe bone fractures, and other injuries that require extensive care. The majority of accidents that take place in our state are caused by some form of negligence. Some of the leading factors of truck accidents include:

  • Distracted driving: Even a momentary lack of a driver's attention from the road significantly increases the risk of an accident.
  • Speeding: When drivers exceed safe speed, they may not have enough time to stop if traffic ahead slows down or comes to a halt.
  • Following too closely: Tailgating is especially dangerous, particularly when it involves a semi-truck. Trucks require up to 40% more time and distance to stop than other vehicles. If a truck is following another vehicle too closely, it leaves little room for stopping if the leading vehicle suddenly brakes, which can lead to a rear-end accident.
  • Poor vehicle maintenance: All vehicles must undergo proper maintenance to ensure safe operation on the roads. If a truck's brakes or other critical components are not adequately maintained, it significantly increases the risk of an accident. Insufficient maintenance is a common contributing factor in truck accidents across the state.
