Hauppauge, NY (July 4, 2023) – A 24-year-old man lost his life as a result of a truck accident that occurred in the Hauppauge area on Monday, July 3.
According to preliminary investigations, a garbage truck’s driver was operating their vehicle in an erratic manner while traveling in the area of Express Drive South and Motor Parkway. As a result, the vehicle crashed into the rear of a Honda Accord. The impact of the crash caused the truck to continue forward, where it sideswiped a school bus and crashed into a Jeep Grand Cherokee.
The Jeep was then dragged forward, where it collided with a Toyota Matrix. The Toyota then proceeded forward and struck a utility pole near the intersection.
The driver of the Honda, who was identified as a 24-year-old male, was fatally injured and pronounced deceased on-site by responding law enforcement. The Toyota driver in the Jeep driver were both injured in the accident. The two victims were transported to local hospitals for emergency care.
At this time, the New York Police Department has an investigation underway to determine the cause of the accident. However, the driver of the garbage truck was issued multiple summonses following the crash.
