Truck Accidents in Indiana

Jeffersonville, IN – 18-Wheeler Accident on Veterans Parkway near MM 5Truck accidents occur at an alarming state across the United States, leaving tens of thousands of people injured each year. Unfortunately, we see countless accidents take place here in Indiana that completely disrupt the lives of those involved. The excessive size and weight of semi-trucks make them more like to cause severe injuries during automobile accidents. Regrettably, the majority of truck accidents that we see across the county are caused by negligence.

One of the leading causes of major truck accidents across the United States is driver error. This can include behaviors such as speeding, distracted driving, and fatigue. Studies have demonstrated that truck drivers who lack sufficient rest are at a significantly higher risk of being involved in crashes. Unfortunately, given the size and weight of these vehicles, when drivers fall asleep behind the wheel, they can cause accidents that end in pure devastation.

Poor truck maintenance is another major contributing factor. When trucks are not adequately maintained or repaired, equipment failures like brake malfunctions or tire blowouts can result in equipment failures. This endangers the truck driver and other motorists sharing the road.

Weather conditions can also play a role in truck accidents. Rain and snow create slippery roads and reduced visibility, posing challenges for all drivers, including truckers who may be carrying heavy loads requiring longer stopping distances.
