Kansas City, MO – Fiery Truck Wreck on I-435 near I-470

Kansas City, MO (July 28, 2023) – Emergency crews spent several hours assisting at the scene of a major truck accident that ultimately claimed the life of one person.

During the morning hours on Thursday, July 27, authorities were dispatched to the scene of a truck accident on Interstate 435.

Preliminary crash reports show that a vehicle was driving on Interstate 435. For unknown reasons, items began flying out of the vehicle and landing on the road near Interstate 470. The flying debris caused a semi-truck driver to lose control of their vehicle and crash.

The semi-truck then caught on fire, prompting the closure of five lanes on the interstate for over five hours.

One person involved in the crash was fatally injured. The victim was pronounced deceased by responding law enforcement.

At this time, the incident is being investigated.
