La Porte County, IN (September 28, 2023) – A truck driver and an elderly couple were hospitalized as a result of a truck crash that took place on Tuesday evening in La Porte County.
The accident occurred at around 6:07 p.m. on September 27.
Reports provided by the La Porte County Sheriff’s Department show that a 66-year-old was driving a 1999 Dodge van in the area of State Road 2 and County Road 500 W. when the vehicle collided with a red 1990 Ford dump truck. The impact of the crash caused the two vehicles to overturn. Gravel from the dump truck poured out all over the roadway, causing severe delays throughout the area.
A 71-year-old woman from Kingsford Heights and the drivers of both vehicles were injured. The woman was airlifted and flown to a regional hospital for emergency medical care. The two other victims were transported to area hospitals for emergency treatment.
The crash is currently being investigated.
