The unexpected loss of a loved one is one of the most difficult things that a person will ever have to deal with in life. Unfortunately, thousands of people across the United States die every year as a result of fatal truck collisions. Here in Illinois, we constantly witness families being torn apart as a result of these accidents.
Fatal truck accidents can take place for a variety of reasons. Unfortunately, many of these accidents are preventable and caused by drivers who are reckless and negligent. Speeding to make it to the destination, driving while fatigued, and engaging in other reckless actions continue to be leading factors in many of the fatal collisions that take place across our state.
After losing a loved one, your family should seek guidance from a tractor-trailer accident lawyer immediately. Your family may be able to take legal action against the responsible party. In addition to truck drivers, we see many accidents take place due to the negligence of other parties as well. Other leading causes include inadequate maintenance of vehicles by maintenance companies, overloading trucks by cargo companies, negligent hiring practices by truck companies, and even government entities who fail to maintain the roadways.
To determine the appropriate course of action moving forward, it is imperative to have a thorough investigation into the accident performed. Working with the dedicated legal team can help to ensure that you have the strongest evidence possible for your case. Your attorney will identify all of the factors that led to the accident and all of the responsible parties.
