Each year, truck accidents in the United States result in more than 100,000 injuries. A significant number of these accidents are a result of driver error, with negligence contributing to nearly 80% of automobile collisions reported nationwide. Common forms of driver negligence that lead to these crashes taking place include speeding, running red lights, driving while drowsy, distracted driving, and failure to yield the right of way. Regrettably, impairment plays a substantial role in many accidents across the country.
While some accidents may only cause minor injuries for those involved, a considerable portion of victims suffer severe harm that demands immediate medical attention. This is particularly true in cases where people are using small passenger vehicles. The unfortunate truth is that accidents involving semi-trucks are more likely to result in life-altering injuries due to their size and weight compared to other vehicles on the road.
Victims involved in semi-truck crashes often require emergency medical care for their injuries. Some of the most common serious injuries sustained in truck accidents include spinal cord injuries, traumatic brain injuries, broken bones, back injuries, and neck and soft tissue injuries. Many victims are left permanently disabled as a result of their accidents.
When individuals are harmed due to truck accidents caused by the negligence of others, they are able to take legal action against the responsible party. Seeking assistance from a commercial vehicle accident lawyer is crucial in ensuring that justice is served.
