Truck accidents take place far too often here in California, leaving thousands of people injured every year. Unfortunately, we see a significant number of accidents take place as a result of negligence. One common cause is driver fatigue. Truck drivers often face long hours on the road without adequate rest, leading to decreased alertness and slower reaction times. Drowsy driving poses a significant risk not only to the truck driver but also to other motorists sharing the road.
Another factor is distracted driving. Whether a driver is texting, talking on the phone, or using GPS devices, any form of distraction can take the attention of the driver from the road and increase the chances of an accident taking place.
Poor vehicle maintenance is yet another contributing factor that we see identified in truck accidents far too often. Trucks require regular inspections and upkeep to ensure their proper functioning. Neglecting maintenance tasks, such as checking brakes or tires, can lead to mechanical failures that result in accidents.
Additionally, speeding plays a significant role in truck accidents. Trucks and commercial vehicles already take a significant distance to be able to come to a complete stop. When trucks are speeding, it can be even more difficult for drivers to stop their vehicles in time to avoid striking others.
If you have been harmed as a result of a truck accident, you should reach out to a commercial vehicle accident lawyer right away. You may be able to file a claim for compensation against the person or party who is responsible.
