McCalla, AL (September 12, 2023) – A crash reported on the west side of Jefferson County on Monday morning claimed one man’s life.
Just before 12:00 p.m. on September 11, calls for assistance came in surrounding an automobile accident that occurred on McAshan Road.
According to officials, a pickup truck in a Publix 18-wheeler collided on the roadway near old Tuscaloosa Highway. The incident blocked several lanes of the roadway.
The driver of the pickup truck, who was identified as a male victim, was severely injured. He was transported to the University of Alabama Birmingham West Hospital, where he passed away from his injuries.
The driver of the 18-wheeler did not suffer any injuries in the crash.
The Traffic Accident Reconstruction Team with the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office is currently investigating.
