In 2022, the state of Florida saw more than 3500 people lose their lives as a result of fatal collisions statewide. In many cases, these accidents were caused by negligent and reckless parties. When it comes to fatal truck accidents, the circumstances surrounding these incidents are often far more complex. As a result, a thorough investigation is needed to determine who is liable for the resulting death and damages.
When truck accidents occur, there are several parties who can be liable. In some circumstances, government entities may be responsible for the resulting damages that families are forced to endure. This is particularly true in cases where they are negligent in the maintenance of roadways. For example, when there is not adequate lighting in a construction zone, it can lead to very dangerous circumstances. Not being able to see obstructions in the roadway can be devastating for drivers. This is particularly true for people driving large commercial vehicles, which already take a significant time and distance to come to a halt.
If your loved one has died as a result of a truck accident, it is vital that your family reaches out to a wrongful death lawyer right away. There are circumstances in which you are able to take legal action against the responsible party. However, if an accident claim is not filed within the statute of limitations, you may not be able to recover compensation for any of the losses and damages you face.
