Monroe, NC – One Airlifted after Truck Crash with Bus on NC-218 near Christ Baptist Church

Monroe, NC (May 15, 2023) – Two people were transported to an area hospital following a major truck crash that took place in Union County on Wednesday morning, May 10.

Just before eight a.m., the North Carolina State Highway Patrol was called to the scene of a crash on North Carolina Highway 218.

Reports show that a school bus and a dump truck collided on the roadway near Christ Baptist Church. The incident prompted Highway Patrol to shut down the road for an extended period.

One person involved in the crash was severely injured. The victim was airlifted to the scene and flown to a local medical facility for emergency care.

The driver of the bus also suffered injuries in the accident and was transported to a local hospital by ambulance. None of the six students on board the bus were injured.
