Nacogdoches, TX (July 14, 2023) – On July 12, the Texas Department of Public Safety responded to the scene of a major crash just south of Garrison that claimed one person’s life.
At around 10:10 p.m., a 2006 Peterbilt truck tractor-trailer collided head-on with a 2018 Dodge SUV while traveling on US Highway 59. The crash caused the semi-truck to burst into flames.
The truck driver, a 46-year-old man from Coushatta, Louisiana, was transported to Nacogdoches Medical Center for emergency treatment.
The Dodge’s driver was transported to a medical facility in Tyler for emergency care. A passenger in the Dodge died after being ejected from the vehicle. Neither victim has been publicly identified.
The Texas Department of Public Safety is investigating the accident at this time.
