Oceanside, CA (August 10, 2023) – A fatal truck crash reported in the Oceanside area on Wednesday evening claimed one life while leaving four others hurt.
During the evening hours on August 9, troopers with the California Highway Patrol were called to the scene of an automobile accident that occurred on the Interstate 5 Freeway.
CHP reports indicate that a red sedan was stopped on the side of northbound Interstate 5 at approximately 9:00 p.m. For unknown reasons, a Chevrolet Corvette attempted to pass the vehicle before colliding with it. An 18-wheeler then struck the sedan in the area just north of California State Route 78.
A woman who was identified as a passenger in the red sedan was fatally injured and pronounced dead at the scene by responding officers.
Four additional victims suffered injuries ranging between moderate to major. All four victims were transported by ambulance to local hospitals.
California Highway Patrol troopers are investigating the crash.
