Fatal truck accidents take the lives of thousands of people every year in the United States. Unfortunately, many of these accidents are completely preventable. Innocent people continue to pay the ultimate price as a result of drivers who are reckless and negligent while operating these large commercial vehicles.
One of the most common examples of negligence occurs when a truck driver fails to adhere to traffic rules and regulations, especially guidelines on speed limits. Excessive speeding reduces the time drivers have to react in case of any sudden events on the road, thereby enhancing the chances of crashes. Unfortunately, we see many people in a hurry to make it to their destination that they go above the speed limit and cause serious accidents.
Another example of negligence involves drivers operating their vehicles while under the influence from drugs or alcohol, which not only impairs judgment but also reduces reaction times. Driving under the influence and significantly increases the risk of an accident leading to deadly consequences.
Additionally, maintenance neglect is another significant cause of fatal truck accidents across the United States. When trucks are not properly maintained, there may be issues with brakes failing or tires bursting that can result in preventable collisions.
