Petersburg, VA (July 21, 2023) – A crash involving multiple vehicles took place in the Petersburg area on Wednesday evening that ended in injuries.
At around 8:40 p.m. on July 19, the Virginia State Police and firefighters out of Petersburg responded to the site of a major crash on Interstate 95.
Reports from authorities show that a box truck ran off the roadway while traveling near mile marker 50. After re-entering the lanes, it collided with a Honda sedan. Two other vehicles were then struck by debris from the incident. At least one vehicle had to be towed from the scene of the crash due to the extent of the damage.
The crash prompted authorities to shut down several lanes on the southbound side of the interstate.
Medics responded to the scene to render aid to the injured parties. One person was transported to a local hospital for medical care following this accident.
The police department is currently investigating the incident.
