Plano, TX (August 3, 2023) – The Texas Department of Public Safety and area officials were summoned to the scene of a major collision that occurred in Collin County. At around 5:00 a.m. on August 2, calls for assistance were received by area officials regarding an automobile accident that occurred on US Highway 75, the Central Expressway.
Reports from DPS show that a tanker truck and a passenger car collided on the highway in the area of Parker Road. The impact of the crash caused the truck to flip over onto its side and catch on fire.
A big rig traveling through the area attempted to avoid the collision without success. The vehicle collided with a fourth car at the scene.
The driver of the tanker truck and one additional driver were both injured in the crash. The two victims were transported to area hospitals for medical care.
At this time, the incident is being investigated.
We hope the two victims injured in this crash recover quickly.
A truck accident can have a severe and devastating impact on your life. Each year, thousands of individuals in our state are hospitalized with significant injuries resulting from these crashes.
Countless truck accidents that take place in our state are entirely avoidable. Many of these accidents are caused by drivers who fail to operate their vehicles responsibly. Common factors that lead to truck accidents across our state include:
Speeding: Truckers often exceed speed limits in their rush to meet delivery deadlines, increasing the likelihood of losing control of their vehicles and causing serious accidents.
Fatigue: Extended hours of driving can lead to truckers becoming fatigued, compromising their alertness and attention on the road, thus elevating the risk of accidents.
Impaired driving: Alcohol, drugs, and certain prescription medications can impair a trucker's ability to drive safely, particularly if they cause drowsiness.
Improper vehicle maintenance: Inadequate maintenance of brakes, tires, and other crucial components increases the chances of accidents occurring.
If you have suffered injuries in a truck accident, you may have the option to file a personal injury lawsuit. However, it's important to note that truck accidents are often more complex than other types of collisions, especially from a legal standpoint.
