Polkton Township, MI – Two Semi-Trucks Collide on I-96 near 68th Ave

Polkton Township, MI (August 13, 2023) – One person was hospitalized as a result of a truck accident that occurred in Polkton Township.

The accident was reported at around 12:45 p.m. on August 11.

According to reports from the Ottawa County Sheriff’s Office, a semi was traveling on Interstate 96 in the Coopersville area during the afternoon hours. For unknown reasons, the brakes on the vehicle locked up, causing the vehicle to jackknife near 68th Avenue.

A second semi-truck traveling down the roadway struck the first semi-truck.

A 57-year-old man involved in the accident was injured. He was rushed to a local hospital for emergency care. The second victim, a 34-year-old man, was treated at the scene.

At this time, the incident is being investigated.
