Pueblo, CO – CDOT Confirms Truck Driver Killed in Train Crash near I-25

Pueblo, CO (October 18, 2023) – A truck driver lost their life as a result of a fatal accident that occurred on Sunday in Pueblo, Colorado.

Reports from the Colorado Department of Transportation show that a train was traveling over a railroad bridge near Interstate 25 when it collapsed. The train derailed and spilled coal, resulting in several mangled rail cars being stretched across the roadway, prompting the closure of the interstate.

During the accident, a semi-truck was struck, resulting in the 60-year-old driver becoming trapped inside of the vehicle.

The Colorado Highway Patrol and firefighters shut down the roadway extensively as they worked to clear the scene.

The driver, who has not been identified, was fatally injured and pronounced deceased at the scene.

At this time, the incident is being investigated by the National Transportation Safety Board.
