Fatal truck accidents claim countless lives annually in Minnesota, with many fatal collisions occurring due to drivers who engage in reckless behaviors such as speeding, impairment, or distraction. While filing a wrongful death claim against the driver may seem like the only recourse for those who have lost a loved one in a fatal truck accident, it is crucial to recognize that multiple parties can be held liable. Seeking the guidance of a wrongful death lawyer in Ramsey can assist you in determining the responsible parties for the loss of your loved one.
There are several parties that can potentially bear liability in a fatal truck accident. Firstly, there is the trucking company, the entity that owns the truck and bears responsibility for its maintenance. If the accident resulted from mechanical failure or negligence, the trucking company may be held accountable.
Next, the cargo company becomes a potentially liable party. This entity is responsible for loading the truck’s cargo, and if improper loading or securing of the cargo led to the accident, the cargo company may be deemed liable.
Additionally, the maintenance company, which is in charge of the repair and upkeep of the truck, can be held liable if their failure to properly maintain or repair the vehicle contributed to the accident.
