Sanborn County, SD – One Killed in Two-Vehicle Truck Crash on 241st St

Sanborn County, SD (June 3, 2023) – On Wednesday, May 31, emergency officials across Sanborn County responded to the scene of a major accident that claimed one person’s life.

According to reports provided by the South Dakota Highway Patrol, a 2019 Hyundai Sonata was traveling west on 241st Street. At the same time, a 2005 Peterbilt semi-truck was pulling a flatbed trailer on the eastbound side of the road. For reasons unknown, the two vehicles collided.

The driver of the Hyundai, a 46-year-old, suffered fatal injuries and died at the scene.

The driver, a 19-year-old, was transported to a local hospital for the treatment of serious injuries.

At this time, the incident is being investigated.
