Sandy Springs, GA – 7-Vehicle Truck Wreck on I-285 near Chattahoochee River

Sandy Springs, GA (September 14, 2023) – On Wednesday, the Georgia Highway Patrol responded to the scene of a major accident that took place during the afternoon hours.

On September 13, emergency officials were dispatched to the scene of an accident that took place on Interstate 285.

According to reports, a semi-truck tractor-trailer and a total of six additional vehicles were involved in a collision on the eastbound side of the interstate. The incident caused severe delays in traffic near the Chattahoochee River.

The incident prompted authorities to shut down several lanes of the road as the 187-wheeler, which was carrying a load of boxes, overturned and spilled cargo across the roadway. Authorities determined that the boxes were full of frozen chicken, which caused severe disruptions throughout the interstate.

Emergency crews closed off the roadway for several hours as they worked to clear the scene. Medics responded to care for the injured victims and transported those in need of further care to local hospitals.
