Stafford, VA (July 7, 2023) – The Virginia State Police confirmed that two people died as a result of a truck accident that occurred in Stafford County on Wednesday morning, July 5.
At around 4:45 a.m., a semi-truck tractor-trailer was traveling on Interstate 95. For unknown reasons, the driver of the 2022 Freightliner tractor-trailer caused the vehicle to collide with a 2014 Nissan Altima.
The impact of the collision forced the Nissan and the truck to veer into the left lane of travel, where they collided with a 2010 Subaru Forrester. The three vehicles then exited the roadway and struck a guardrail. The impact of the collision caused the tractor-trailer to overturn and come to rest on top of the Subaru and the Nissan.
The driver of the Nissan and the driver of the Subaru, identified as a 67-year-old man and a 50-year-old man, were both killed in the accident.
The truck driver was transported to Mary Washington Hospital for treatment. The driver was then taken into police custody and charged with reckless driving as a result of this accident.
The incident is being investigated.
