Thomasville, NC – Multiple Victims Hurt in Firetruck Crash on I-85

Thomasville, NC (December 18, 2023) – Multiple people were hospitalized as a result of a motor vehicle accident in the Thomasville area on Sunday, December 17. The crash was reported to law enforcement at around 1:20 p.m.

According to reports provided by the Davidson County Sheriff’s Office, a fire truck and an SUV collided on the southbound side of Interstate 85. The incident caused delays near Fisher Ferry Street as emergency crews worked to remove the involved vehicles. Reports show that Thomasville Fire Department Engine 23 was traveling in the area of Baptist Children's Home Road when it became involved in a collision with a GMC Terrain.

The impact of the collision caused the firetruck to overturn on Lake Road in the area near Interstate 85. The SUV driver and one of the firefighters were both transported to Novant Health Thomasville Medical Center for emergency medical treatment. Two additional firefighters were transported to area hospitals for further treatment and evaluation. One additional victim was also hospitalized. At this time, the incident is being investigated.
