Tipton County, IN (June 7, 2023) – The Indiana State Police responded to the scene of a fatal truck accident that took place in Tipton County and claimed one person’s life.
On June 5, police were notified that their assistance was needed at the scene of a crash on state Route 28.
Reports from authorities show that a Peterbilt semi-truck was traveling east on state Route 28 when he became involved in a sideswipe collision with a pickup truck, which was pulling anhydrous ammonia tanks. The impact of the crash forced the driver of the Peterbilt to lose control of their vehicle and cross over the centerline. The truck collided with a second pickup truck near County Road 1050.
A 42-year-old man and a 57-year-old man were both injured as a result of the crash. The victims were flown by helicopter to a hospital in Indianapolis for emergency care. The 57-year-old man died from his injuries after arriving.
A 17-year-old was also treated for injuries.
At this time, the incident is being investigated.
