Toledo, OH (August 18, 2023) – Two people were hospitalized as a result of a major truck crash that occurred in the Toledo area on Thursday, August 17.
During the morning hours, troopers with the Ohio State Highway Patrol responded to the scene of an accident on Interstate 80.
Reports from OSHP show that a UPS truck was traveling on the westbound side of the interstate during the morning hours. As the vehicle began to slow down for congested traffic on the road in the area near the airport, the vehicle was struck from behind by eight and a semi-truck. Two people involved in the crash were injured. Medics were called to care for the victims and to provide them with transportation to local medical facilities.
Crews spent several hours at the scene as they worked to clear the roadway. The Ohio State Highway Patrol is actively investigating the crash.
Our thoughts go out to those who suffered injuries due to this crash. We hope the two victims recover quickly and fully.
A truck accident can have a severe and devastating impact on your life. The unfortunate truth is that over 100,000 truck accidents are reported annually across the United States. In Ohio, we see a significant number of people left with serious injuries that affect their lives forever.
Countless people involved in truck accidents are left with significant bone fractures. We also see many victims left with spinal cord injuries, traumatic brain injuries, and even broken bones. Being hurt as a result of a truck accident can force you to undergo extensive medical treatment. In some cases, victims have to spend tens of thousands of dollars to cover the damages and losses they face.
Following a truck accident, it is important that you are aware of your legal rights. Truck crash victims have the ability to seek financial compensation by filing a personal injury claim against the responsible party. Truck accidents tend to be far more complex due to the fact that they can have several parties held liable. Common liable parties in truck crash cases include drivers, truck companies, cargo companies, or companies in charge of maintaining the vehicles. Working with a tractor-trailer accident attorney will help to ensure that you have a thorough investigation performed on your behalf to determine who is liable for the crash.
