Truck accidents can be extremely devastating, leading to tens of thousands of injuries in the United States each year. These accidents are often preventable. However, we continue to see them take place frequently due to negligence.
In the United States, driver error is one of the leading causes of truck accidents. This can include aggressive behavior, distracted driving, speeding, and failure to obey traffic laws. With their large size and weight, trucks require skilled drivers who are attentive and responsible behind the wheel. Unfortunately, when reckless and careless drivers get behind the wheel, the consequences can be devastating.
Fatigue is another major factor that leads to a significant number of truck accidents in the United States. Truck drivers having to spend long hours on the road without proper rest breaks can lead to decreased alertness and slower reaction times. Divers can fall asleep and drift into other liens and strength vehicles nearby.
We also see a number of truck accidents take place as a result of malfunctions and defects. Faulty brakes, tire blowouts, or steering system failures continue to cause truck accidents across the United States every year.
Unfortunately, any act of negligence can have severe consequences for not only truck drivers, but everyone else sharing the road. If you have been hurt as a result of a truck accident, you may have legal options available to help you move forward. It is important to seek the assistance of a truck accident lawyer as soon as possible.
