Venice, FL (December 11, 2023) – A woman has lost her life as a result of a fatal truck accident that occurred on Friday morning in Venice. At around 7:55 a.m. on December 8, the Florida Highway Patrol troopers were notified that they were needed at the scene of a crash on US Highway 41.
Official reports provided by police indicate that a sedan was heading southbound on US Highway 41 while in the left lane. As the vehicle approached the driveway access of the Lowe’s Home Improvement store, located in the 1700 block of South Tamiami Trail, it was broadsided by a semi-truck.
A passenger in the sedan, identified as a 73-year-old woman, was fatally injured in the crash. She was pronounced deceased at the scene. The 74-year-old driver of the sedan and the 63-year-old driver of the truck both sustained injuries. The two victims were transported to area hospitals for emergency care. The Florida Highway Patrol is currently investigating the incident.
