Wells, MN – Car Driver Killed in Bus Crash on I-90 at Highway 22

Wells, MN (August 28, 2023) – A driver lost their life due to a bus accident that occurred in Faribault County on Saturday evening. According to law enforcement reports, at around 8:45 p.m. on August 26, emergency crews were dispatched to assist on-site at a major collision on Interstate 90.

According to reports from the Minnesota State Police, a 79-year-old man was driving a bus east on the interstate while transporting multiple team members from the Waseca Volleyball team. For unknown reasons, the vehicle collided with a westbound Ford Mustang in a construction zone near Highway 22.

The driver of the Mustang, identified as a 55-year-old man from Brandon, South Dakota, was fatally injured and pronounced dead at the scene.

Seven juvenile females on the bus were injured. The victims were transported to Albert Lea Hospital for emergency care. The girls were all between the ages of 14 and 16.

At this time, the incident remains under investigation.
