Wise County, VA – US-23 Truck Accident Reported near MM 60 Ends in Injuries

Wise County, VA (June 15, 2023) – At least one person was transported to an area hospital with injuries following a truck crash that took place in Wise County.

The state police were notified of the crash at approximately 6:20 p.m. on June 15.

Reports provided by the Virginia State Police shell that a semi-truck tractor-trailer and a small white sedan were involved in a collision on US Route 23. The incident prompted the police and firefighters to close off the roadway on the southbound side near mile marker 60.

The accident caused significant delays in traffic just below Jenkins Mountain.

A medical helicopter was requested at the scene. One person was transported by helicopter to an area hospital for emergency treatment.

At this time, the state police are investigating to determine what caused the crash.
